The Living Room is Brighton’s home for joyful movement, genuine connection and a different kind of fitness experience.
Created as a joyful alternative to traditional gyms, this is a space where movement is about how you feel, not just how you look. A place where you can build strength, explore creativity, and reconnect with your body — without pressure, comparison or performance.
We believe a movement studio should feel like somewhere you want to spend time. Somewhere you can walk through the door and instantly feel welcomed, supported and at ease.
Every detail of The Living Room has been thoughtfully curated to create an atmosphere that feels warm, inspiring and alive. From small class sizes and thoughtful teaching to the carefully designed space itself, everything is created to help you feel comfortable being exactly where you are.
Whether you’re completely new to movement, returning after time away, or looking for a space that feels different from the usual fitness environment, you’re welcome here.
Come as you are. Move in a way that feels good. Leave feeling more connected, energised and yourself.

Meet Ilana, Founder of Brighton's first movement studio.
For much of my life, movement was something I did to my body.
Like many people, I absorbed the idea that exercise should make me fitter, stronger, leaner, or more productive. It was easy to fall into thinking of my body as something to fix, improve or push.
Everything changed when a teacher introduced me to a completely different way of relating to myself.
They taught me that I am not my body. That my body is its own intelligence. That I can listen to it, speak to it, and work with it rather than constantly trying to overcome it. They taught me that the body isn't something to control. It's something to be in relationship with.
That shift transformed far more than the way I exercised; it changed how I experienced confidence, creativity, rest, joy and everyday life.
The Living Room grew from that experience.
I wanted to create the kind of space I had spent years searching for: somewhere beautiful without being intimidating, welcoming without being anonymous, thoughtfully designed without taking itself seriously, and importantly, somewhere fun, because life should be fun.
A place where movement feels expressive instead of performative. Where classes are small enough that you're genuinely seen. Where laughter is encouraged. Where curiosity matters more than perfection.
I don't believe movement should only be about changing your body. I believe it can change your relationship with your body, and through that, your relationship with yourself.
My hope is that everyone who walks through our doors leaves feeling a little more connected to themselves, a little more alive, and a little more able to give themselves permission to be exactly who they are.
